Elseptha Allegurm (Liz) considers herself the most important person among the scholars of the Royal Djeld Academy studying the history of Mansura and the Mandarin Age, lending her familial ties to the great Anturian Hegemons as legitimacy for the book. Elseptha can trace her paternal lineage back to Camerion Anturas, son of Belthon Anturas, and a kitchen wench.

While attending Cambergia University in Northwestern Mansura, Elseptha became fascinated with the real story of the Southwall Massacre and has often attended annual re-enactments of the Massacre in order to provide her opinion, knowledge and weapon expertise to their somewhat misconstrued attempts at recreating history.
